I was thrilled to have the opportunity to go back to Kauai. Last time I was there, I spent three all too short days on the island. My only glimpse of Waimea Canyon was a flyover in a helicopter. The story I was shooting – and a week on the island – gave me plenty of time to see the Canyon from ground level and let me tell you, it was worth the wait.
Shooting the same family each year is such a fun experience. It’s so much fun to watch Monica’s girls grow – they’re still wonderful little divas that would give the America’s Next Top Model girls a run for their money! We had a blast traipsing through the park for their shoot and walking off some Thanksgiving calories.
Every wedding is unique and challenging. I knew that Hindu weddings had their own set of traditions and challenges, but I was incredibly excited to photograph my first one with my dear friend Jenn, owner of Soltren Photography. Three days of shooting. Hundreds of guests. Numerous sari changes. Lots of unknown-to-me-but-delicious Indian food. Long story short, it was amazing. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.

During the final prayer of the ceremony, the sun dipped just below the treeline, creating a warm, beautiful glow.
After the ceremony, I grabbed Coral and Darren and we booked it over to the vineyard to take advantage of the amazing sunset.
I love eating shooting food and this shoot was no exception. Author/chef Ramin Ganeshram cooked this amazing internatonal fare and food stylist/writer Holly V. Kapherr was on hand to give the food some extra camera appeal as we shot on location at Luma.
Absolutely gorgeous! I really enjoyed seeing these because they’re unlike anything I’ve seen before. Beautiful couple and family. Great job Lori!
